Belonging has become a buzzword in DEI work, but what does it actually mean to build a workplace, school, or community where people genuinely feel they belong? And more importantly, how do you sustain it when conflict, harm, or tension arises?
In this interactive workshop, participants will move beyond surface-level belonging initiatives into a healing-centered framework that turns belonging from a concept into a practice. Drawing on restorative principles, trauma-informed facilitation, and real-world case studies from The Inclusion School's work across nonprofits, higher education, and community organizations, this session will equip attendees with:
A clear definition of belonging rooted in safety, trust, and mutual accountability, not just "niceness". A practical repair protocol for addressing harm and conflict in ways that deepen belonging rather than fracture it
Tools for designing inclusive spaces that honor difference while building cohesive, high-trust teams
Participants will leave with tangible practices they can implement immediately, whether they're leading a classroom, a nonprofit team, or a community coalition, because belonging isn't a destination. It's something we build and practice together, every day.
